I’m so happy I was tagged for this! A big thanks to Ally @ Ally Writes Things for tagging me.
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2018
It’s probably a tie between these three: Homegoing, How to Make a Wish, and Piecing Me Together
Favorite Sequel of the Year
I haven’t read a sequel yet this year but I hope to remedy that soon!
New Release You Haven’t Read But Really Want To
I mean there’s quite a few I could name off but for now I’ll say, Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Perez because I’ve seen some really great reviews for it and also Bruja Born by Zoraida Cordova because I just finished Labyrinth Lost and I adored it and want to read more about the Mortiz sisters, especially since Bruja Born is from the POV of Lula who was sort of my favorite character from the first book.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Also another one where I could spout off several books. I’ve mentioned plenty of times before some anticipated releases, but I think I’ll try to mention a few that I don’t think I’ve talked about much.
The Deepest Roots by Miranda Asebedo
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand
The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody
Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean
Your biggest disappointment
I haven’t really any book so far that has disappointed me yet. I’ve gone into most of the books I’ve read this year knowing I would enjoy them. But even the books that I had zero expectations for or ones where I went in blind I ended up really liking.
Biggest Surprise of the Year
Definitely Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer. I read this super quick because I ended being so invested in the characters and their stories. I was kind of surprised because I didn’t think I would enjoy this THAT much. I also only got it because it was a Kindle deal. But I highly recommend it if you like emotional YA contemporaries.
Favorite new-to-you or debut author
Just to name a few: Ashley Herring Blake, S. Jae-Jones, Stacey Lee, Yaa Gyasi, Renee Watson, Kiersten White, and Zoraida Cordova.
Your Fictional Crush
Finally I’m going to mention some manga!
Possibly Saichi Sugimoto from Golden Kamuy. Which is one of my favorite manga series right now. I love this picture of him holding a bear cub.
Also Elias Ainsworth from The Ancient Magus Bride (DON’T @ ME)
New Favorite Character
Asirpa from Golden Kamuy. This is my daughter y’all. Golden Kamuy has some of the best facial expressions drawn. Asirpa is a badass adorable Ainu girl who wants to get revenge!!! My favorite kind of young girl character. I love that the manga author draws her making the most extra and weirdest faces.
A Book That Made You Cry
I’ve had quite a few this year that made me cry because I’m just sort of an emotional person but I think basically all of the books I’ve read this year were very powerful and emotional books about various heavy topics.
A Book That Made You Happy
Honestly I’ve read a lot of powerful and more provocative books than I have cute, happy ones. I’ll have to say How to Make a Wish. It has a LOT of intense, emotional moments in it but it also has a lot of cute and romantic moments between the MC, Grace and Eva, the love interest. Also Grace’s friendship with Luca was so nice to see how supportive and understanding they are of each other.
Your favorite book-to-movie adaptation that you’ve seen this year
I haven’t seen any new book-to-movie adaptations yet (I still need to watch Love, Simon y’all) but I think I can count Infinity War for this because its a comic book-to-movie adaptation.
Favorite book post you’ve done this year
Favorite Blog Posts from both April and May! I’ve also liked making my Top Ten Tuesday lists! They’ve gotten a lot of views and have helped me gain more followers! 🙂
The most beautiful book you’ve bought/received this year
COLLAGE TIME! BECAUSE I’M A SUCKER FOR BEAUTIFUL BOOKS.
What are some books you need to read by the end of the year?
COLLAGE TIME! AGAIN!
I’m hoping to get to both Homegoing and Piecing Me Together soon! And I hope you get to Evelyn Hugo soon!!

I know right! All the recent fantasy releases have been so diversas. So many of them especially have been about Asian cultures which I’m absolutely loving.
