Questions from Ally
If you could only read one 2018 release, which would it be?
This is a tough one because there’s so many good 2018 releases that have come out already and there’s many more interesting books coming out later but probably Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan. It stands out the most to me out of a lot of YA fantasy (it’s Asian inspired, sapphic, written by an Asian author). I think it has a lot going for it and I can’t wait to read it.
What’s one series you’d like to turn into a TV show?
The Diviners series by Libba Bray. This series would make for such a unique teen horror show. It takes place in 1920s New York with teens who have supernatural powers and there’s murders happening. It has a diverse cast and doesn’t shy away from the social issues + problems happening during that time period. There would be A LOT of material to work with for a full show. It also has a sort of love triangle which I guess would make for good melodrama and it’s not even a bad love triangle because I enjoy all three in the triangle.
Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?
Yes, although it’s been a while since I’ve listened to them. Lore is one of them which is a horror/supernatural/true crime podcast series that’s very informative and suspenseful and it makes for great relaxation (well…when it’s not creepy AF which most of the time it is). The host has a soothing voice and it just calms me down sometimes.
Then I also sometimes listen to this one, How Did This Get Made? which features a group of comedians talking about bad movies and the production stuff behind how these movies got made and why they did poorly. It’s pretty hilarious.
Do you have any weird hobbies?
Nope LMAO I’m not that interesting. I guess I have to look for something weird to get into now.
What’s your favorite animal?
Manatees. Maybe because of living in Florida for most of my life but I adore these sea cows. They’re pretty chill creatures. (And I am wearing a manatee shirt while typing this which is bizarre af I’m freaking out about this coincidence!!!)
Describe your dream reading room.
So it’s got be a pretty big room. There has to be a couple of reading spots because I like to move around a lot to different areas when I’m reading, so there’s a desk, a bean bag maybe, and a couch. A coffee maker. I want bookshelves all around the room and high ones so I have to get a ladder. All the books are organized alphabetically and by genre/sub-genre (which would never happen in real life).
Who’s your favourite author?
I know this going to be a cop-out answer but I have no idea yet. I’m still sort of trying to figure that out who I even consider my favorite author. I don’t think I’ve read enough of a particular author to be like “this is the one”.
If you could travel anywhere with any book character, where and who?
Holden Caulfield and we go the Chilis parking lot and we fight.
What’s your go-to Starbucks (or other coffee shop) order?
Strawberries & Creme Frappucino. It tastes like a smoothie basically but of course it has caffeine to be careful if you get it!
Are there any books on your TBR that you probably will never read but you convince yourself you will?
Definitely. I have a lot of books that I have gotten from thrift stores/yard sales/flea markets solely because of the cheap prices and most of them are in pretty good condition. Some of them I’ve never heard of before but maybe the cover made me think it would be good.
I nominate the following awesome bloggers! No pressure to do this if you’ve already done this or just don’t want to do it lol! Anyone can do this TBH.
Amanda @ The Bee-Witched Reader
Angelica @ The Book Cover Girl
My Questions
1. How do your organize your books?
2. How would you describe your aesthetic?
3. What are your current non-bookish faves?
4. What is your favorite character name?
5. What are your favorite tropes that some people consider overrated?
6. An author whose writing style you love?
7. What is your most surprising read? Good or bad?
8. A popular & beloved book/series that you have yet to read?
9. Are you a mood reader or do you follow a TBR?
10. Most anticipated 2019 releases
You are COMPLETELY RIGHT that the Diviners needs a show. 100%. Also, I’d definitely help fight Caulfield in a Chili’s parking lot tbh.
Thanks for the tag!

Can you imagine the outfits?!? If it ever did get a show I’d probably want Netflix or Hulu to do it. I’d want it to have a good budget to do all the costumes and special effects.

Yes! The aesthetic has to be absolutely perfect to make it work.

Oooo I’d LOVE to read Girls of Paper and Fire too. The Asian in me is SCREAMING, plus early reviews have all been super positive. ♥ Also I have no idea how manatees are in real life, but media portrays them to be super cute! 🙂

It’s so awesome that it’s getting amazing reviews. I’m so hyped for it.
Manatees are adorable. I think they are very much the cows of the sea lol. They just chill.
