Something New

Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer

I was supposed to have already received this in the mail but it’s been a whileΒ πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ

EDIT: I ACTUALLY RECEIVED THIS BOOK ON HALLOWEEN! YAY!

Something Old

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

I know everyone is talking about the Netflix series but I really want to read the book it’s based off first.

A Book with an Orange Cover

Who Fears Death by Nnedi Okorafor

I’ve had this on my TBR since last year and I should get too it soon before it becomes a series on HBO which will be produced by George R.R. Martin. Pretty exciting!

A Scary Book

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

I’ve been meaning to get around to this one as well. Exorcisms freak me out. I can never completely watch The Exorcist movie. I just can’t.

A Book with Witches

labyrinth lost second cover 1

Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova

This is a brilliant first book to a magical series with brujas. I really enjoyed the world-building and characters in this one. I just got the sequel Bruja Born the other day.

A Book with Werewolves

Silver inΒ  the Blood by Jessica Day George

I came across this on a website and it looks pretty cool. It’s has a gorgeous cover and it’s a historical fiction mixed in with werewolves! Sounds fun.

A Book with Vampires

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

After reading The Cruel Prince, I definitely will read more Holly Black’s books. I bought this one at a bargain price a few years ago and it’s been sitting on my shelf for too long.

A Book with Your Greatest Fears

a semi-definitive list of worst nightmares

A Semi-Definitive List of Worst Nightmares by Krystal Sutherland

I mean a whole list of worst nightmares sounds pretty terrifying.

A Fairy Tale Gone Dark

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I really ended up enjoying this so much! It got veryyy dark by the end. I CANNOT wait for the sequel. It seems like so many people have read it already!

An Edge of Your Seat Thriller

Sadie by Courtney Summers

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. So much tension and drama.

Three scary/paranormal/thrilling/magical books you’ll be reading this month

These are three books I WANTED so much to read in October but I’ll have to move them over into my November TBR.

  1. Labyrinth Lost’s an amazing witch book! The brujas are so cool 😍

The cover for Silver in the Blood is stunning! Might have to add that one to my TBR, I’ve barely read any werewolf books. But I love wolves, so I totally should. I haven’t read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown either, cause vampires aren’t my favorite thing. But Holly Black is a queen!

    Happy Halloween! πŸŽƒ

    • Brujas are awesome! I wish that series would get an adaptation of some sort. I think brujas are not represented enough in media!

I don’t think I’ve honestly read a book with werewolves in it that wasn’t Twilight lol and while werewolves aren’t my thing I’ve liked a few exclusively werewolf movies like Ginger Snaps and An American Werewolf in London.

I am definitely ready to read more Holly Black though! I can’t wait for The Wicked King!

Happy Halloween to you as well πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸŽƒ

  2. My Best Friend’s Exorcism isn’t really scary! I’m a total wuss when it comes to scary things and while there’s some suspense and at least one gross-out moment, I didn’t find the story scary πŸ™‚ I hope you read it; I loved it enough to buy a copy after returning the library’s book.

    • That’s good to hear because while I do love the horror/spooky genre, I still scare very easily lol.

I’m definitely going to read it soon! I meant to get it to it this month but nevertheless life happens haha.

      Happy Halloween πŸŽƒ
