January Favorites

January was the month where I spent more time not reading but I did find some new favorites. This was the also the month where I was really into anime and true crime for some reason. Next month I’m especially going to avoid a lot of the true crime stuff for a while because while it’s fascinating it’s also intense and draining.

Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 is here and this season has been so great thus far. Another catchy opening! More amazing and wild animation! More Reigen being Reigen!

I started this in 2018 and it’s still going on as one of my favorites. I enjoy this bizarre show full of nicely dressed dudes and ladies.

So here’s where my true crime/serial killer kick started. Damn you Netflix. I thought this was a really well developed series about stalking and also was a nuanced take on how society normalizes these actions in men. But I also found it ironic that people online actually started defending Joe but at the actor himself was like “Joe is a literal stalker and killer”.

I loved the twists on what many rom-coms make out to be romantic moments but in reality are very creepy.

This was on my TV one night and I just decided “why not?” I think this was pretty well done and I like the look that this takes on his life. I was blown away by Ross Lynch’s performance because I only knew him from that Disney show Austin & Ally and he does a stellar job here.

Speaking of killers, we have Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. I found this to be so informative because I had no prior knowledge of what exactly happened. I think it does a good job of presenting the information by having Bundy talk and then other people such as childhood friends and police and lawyers weigh in on that. It definitely showed how good he was manipulating people. My favorite part is when a woman who went to school with him just trash talks him after he talked about how great he was and she’s like “he was a loser” lol.

This app saved my life. Shonen Jump announced in December that they would start a subscription with access to all their manga titles for just $2 a month and same-day releases as Japan. I’ve been reading some really classic manga series such as Dragon Ball and I’m so happy to finally read an iconic series like that.
