Top 5 Wednesday – My Spring TBR

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but since this week’s topic is kind of an easy one for me, I’m back at it.

Spring is here in the States, and Spring is always full of new books and so is my TBR because there’s so many new releases out that I’ve been wanting to read for so long. But at the same time I want to prioritize my reading this Spring and make sure I read at least these 5 books I’m going to talk about.

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I had a classic rock phase in middle school to high school and this alone brings back those memories. This sounds like sort of a fictional biography of someone like Stevie Nicks or Janis Joplin and I am absolutely here for it. And before someone asks I haven’t read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo….YET. I am ashamed but I do actually own a physical copy of it now and hopefully I’ll get to it very soon.

The Beauty That Remains by Ashley Woodfolk

This isn’t a 2019 release but it does have a new cover with wonderful rep for teens of color. It’s just glorious. This fits the spring aesthetic and I’ve had this on my TBR way too long, so I should get on that shit.

You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn
Release Date: April 2

I mean I should already be reading this one since I do have an eARC. But I love the cover and I’m interested to see if I will enjoy it despite my love-hate relationship with country music. (I like Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton, and Dixie Chicks and that’s about it).

The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman
Release Date: April 2

More dark contemporary fantasy please!!! This sounds like a book I would make up in a dream. I’ve heard so many great things and maybe not quite fitting the spring read aesthetic but fuck it because I’ve been wanting on this book to make my dreams come true. Also QUEER characters! Characters of COLOR!

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He
Release Date: April 9

Everyone’s been talking about this book for months now and I’m here for the hype especially because it’s a Chinese inspired fantasy and 2019 is going to be the year for diverse fantasy. I think I’m going to love this book as much as everyone else does.

Thanks for reading and hope everyone gets to read a lot of amazing books in spring!
